How many restrooms does a 150-guest wedding need?
A 150-guest wedding with a 5-hour reception and a bar needs 4 restroom units under our planning rule: 150 × 5 ÷ 250 = 3, plus 1 for alcohol. Add 2 hand wash stations for the food. Make 1 of the 4 units wheelchair-accessible, or ask us to size a restroom trailer instead.
| Option | What you rent | Feel for guests |
|---|---|---|
| A: Simple | 3 standard units + 1 wheelchair-accessible unit + 1 hand wash station | Clean and basic; sanitizer inside, sink outside |
| B: Mid-range | 3 deluxe flushing units (PolyJohn Fleet FS3) + 1 wheelchair-accessible unit | Flush and a sink in each unit |
| C: Formal | 2- or 3-station restroom trailer + 1 wheelchair-accessible unit | Flushing toilets, vanities, lights, A/C or heat |
The count is our planning rule, not a law. Your venue may set its own number. Run other guest counts on the porta potty calculator.

Should I rent flushing units or a restroom trailer for a wedding?
Choose deluxe flushing units for a mid-budget wedding and a restroom trailer for a formal one. The PolyJohn Fleet FS3 adds a flush, a hand sink, soap and paper towels. A 2- or 3-station trailer adds vanity sinks, mirrors, lighting and A/C or heat, but needs about 20 feet of straight access and power.
| Deluxe flushing unit | Restroom trailer | |
|---|---|---|
| Model | PolyJohn Fleet FS3 | 2-station or 3-station luxury trailer |
| Toilet | Freshwater or recirculating flush | Flushing toilets |
| Sink | Hand sink, soap, paper towels | Vanity sinks and mirrors |
| Lighting | Daylight through the roof | Built-in lighting |
| Power and water | None needed | 15/20-amp outlet within 100 ft; garden hose or onboard tank |
| Space | 47" wide | About 20 ft straight access, level ground |

Where should wedding restrooms go?
Place wedding restrooms out of sight of the dining tables, downwind, and within a short, lit walk. The unit still needs flat, firm ground within 15 feet of where our truck parks, and a clear path about 4 feet wide. Keep restrooms out of the ceremony view and photo backdrop.
- Set units behind a hedge, garage or tent wall, not beside the buffet.
- Face doors away from the dining area and dance floor.
- Put the wheelchair-accessible unit closest to the path, on level ground.
- Add a hand wash station near the restrooms, not next to the food.
- Tell us where the truck can park and where the gate is.
Will guests be able to see inside the restroom after dark?
Restroom trailers have built-in lighting, so they work well for receptions after sunset. Standard and deluxe units rely on a translucent roof, which lights the inside only in daylight. For a reception that runs past dark, plan at least 1 light source near each unit door, such as string lights or a path light.
Our recommendation: light the path, not just the door. Guests in heels on a lawn need to see the ground. Trailer steps should be lit too.
What should I know about a backyard wedding in the Whittier hills?
Backyard weddings in the Whittier hills need 3 checks: gate width, slope and truck access. A standard unit needs about a 48-inch gate, a wheelchair-accessible unit about 66 inches, and a restroom trailer about 20 feet of straight, level access. Steep driveways and soft lawns may need plywood pads.
Ask for plywood pads if you are worried about your lawn or pavers. We are not responsible for marks on pavers or lawns when you choose the spot. In Santa Ana wind season, mostly October to March, we stake or strap units on request and keep them off open slopes.
A unit on a City of Whittier street needs a Public Works encroachment permit (City of Whittier permits). Homes in unincorporated areas such as Hacienda Heights follow LA County rules. Read our porta potty placement guide for Whittier hills driveways.

When are wedding restrooms delivered and picked up?
Saturday weddings are usually delivered on Friday and picked up on Monday, at no extra cost, because event pricing covers up to 3 days on site. Restroom trailers book as a weekend rental. The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival, and we give a morning or afternoon delivery window.
