What is a hand wash station rental?

A 22-gallon fresh-water tank gives nearly 350 hand washes per fill, and used water drains into a 24-gallon gray-water tank.

How many hand wash stations do I need per porta potty?
Our planning rule is 1 hand wash station for every 3 porta potties when food is served, with a minimum of 1. A party with 3 toilets needs 1 station; 6 toilets need 2. Check water too: 150 guests who each wash twice use about 300 washes, which fits inside 1 Bravo fill.
| Toilets at the event | Hand wash stations (food served) | Washes per fill available |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | 1 | About 350 |
| 6 | 2 | About 700 |
| 9 | 3 | About 1,050 |
| 12 | 4 | About 1,400 |
For longer events, more guests than the fill covers, or kids' parties, add a station or a mid-event refill. Size the toilets first with our porta potty calculator.

Do I need a hand wash station at a food event?
Plan on at least 1 hand wash station at any event that serves food. A standard porta potty has hand sanitizer only, and sanitizer does not remove grease, sauce or dirt. 15 of the 74 callers we reviewed asked about sinks, and most did not know a standard unit has no water.
- Place 1 station by the toilets and, when you can, 1 near the food line.
- Keep it on firm, level ground. A full Bravo weighs 254 pounds.
- Keep the path level so guests using a wheelchair can reach it.
- Food vendors may have their own handwashing rules from the county health department. Ask your event permit office.

Do construction jobsites need hand washing stations?
Federal OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(f) requires adequate washing facilities on construction sites where workers apply paints, coatings, herbicides or insecticides, or handle other harmful contaminants. In California, farm crews follow Cal/OSHA Title 8 §3457: 1 toilet and 1 handwashing facility per 20 workers, within a 1/4-mile or 5-minute walk.
Read the rules at OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 and Cal/OSHA Title 8 §3457.
Check first: Legal minimum and good practice are different things. Our recommendation is 1 station on any remodel with paint, drywall mud or concrete work, but your safety officer decides what your site requires. This is not legal advice.
On long jobs, the Bravo is serviced weekly with your toilets. Read construction site toilets and Cal/OSHA counts for crew sizing.
How often does a hand wash station get refilled?
A Bravo hand wash station holds 22 gallons of fresh water, about 350 hand washes. Event stations arrive full and usually last a 1-day party. On jobsites, weekly service refills the water, soap and towels and empties the 24-gallon gray-water tank. Busy sites can add a second weekly service.
| Rental | Price from | Servicing |
|---|---|---|
| Event (up to 3 days) | $125 | Arrives full and stocked; mid-event visit from $65 |
| Construction / long-term | $145 per 28 days | Weekly refill, gray-water pump, restock |
| Extra weekly service | $45 per extra visit | For larger crews |
Should I rent a hand wash station or a porta potty with a built-in sink?
A separate hand wash station serves 2 people at once and can stand near the food line, while a built-in sink serves only the person inside the porta potty. Choose a standard unit with a built-in sink ($215 vs $175) for a 1-unit jobsite or small party. Choose a Bravo station ($125) for food and crowds.

Guests want a flush and a sink in the same room? Look at the deluxe flushing porta potty with sink.

Questions customers ask before booking
Real questions from our customer calls, answered by our dispatch team.
Is the hand washing station included with the porta potty?
No. A standard porta potty has a hand sanitizer dispenser only. Add a Bravo hand wash station from $125, or rent a standard unit with a built-in sink from $215. Typical starting prices as of October 2026; your itemized quote is final.
Do I need to hook it up to a hose?
No. The Bravo has a 22-gallon fresh-water tank and a 24-gallon gray-water tank. It needs no hose and no power.
How many people can use one hand washing station?
The manufacturer rates one fill at nearly 350 hand washes. Two people can wash at the same time, one on each side.
Is the water warm?
No. The Bravo uses fresh water at outdoor temperature, pumped by foot. Soap and paper towels are stocked on both sides.
Where should I put the hand wash station at a party?
Next to the porta potties, on level, firm ground. If you serve food from a buffet or taco line, a second station near the food helps guests wash before eating.
Does my construction site need a hand washing station?
Federal OSHA 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities where workers handle paints, coatings or other harmful contaminants. Ask your safety officer what your site needs; this is not legal advice.
